Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about 2FA and Password Express

What is a Self-Service Password Reset function?
To put it simply, a self-service password reset tool (or SSRP for short) is a feature which allows users to reset their passwords without having to contact an IT department for any password reset requests.
What is Password Express?
Password Express is a groundbreaking authentication platform for Windows developed by Jadaptive. It offers flexible authentication policies tailored to your organization’s needs. Whether extending second-factor authentication to Windows logins or setting up a password reset service, 2FA Express equips you with the essential tools for swift and effective security deployment.
You will just need your email address to register with us for our Software as a Service platform. You can review the setup documentation prior to setting it up here.
You can save time by focusing on the most important tasks for your business, rather than waiting on hold to an IT department for hours on end. This also means that you can save money because you no longer have to outsource an IT service solely for password recovery. On top of this, you can also improve your online cybersecurity by ensuring that you have a strong password that is changed frequently.
I was redirected here from LogonBox, how is this related to LogonBox SSPR?
LogonBox and Jadaptive are sister companies with the same management team. Password Express has been created using a combination of LogonBox SSPR technology and Jadaptive's new cloud platform. Password Express is the long term replacement for LogonBox SSPR, although there is no need to migrate at the current time (unless you want to) as LogonBox SSPR will continue to be supported by our team.
With Password Express this could not be simpler. Navigate to the Password Express home page and click on “Forgot your Password”. You will then be prompted to enter your username followed by any questions or credentials you need to prove your identity. Once completed, you can finally reset your user password.
Yes, you should be. It is really important that you change any passwords that you are aware might have appeared in a data breach. Breach password databases are used by bad actors to try to circumvent your security and gain access to your company's data.
One of the cool features of Password Express is its ability to detect passwords that have been used in known data breaches. It can inform the user and require them to change their password immediately, and prevent the user changing to a password that has been used in a known data breach.
Yes, part of the Password Express solution is a Windows Credential Provider that adds a link to the login prompt to allow the user to reset their password, or unlock their account. You can also assign additional authenticators to the Windows Login flow to require secondary authentication (2FA) when logging into Windows.
What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an indispensable security enhancement for anyone accessing digital services. It combines two distinct forms of verification—typically something you know, like your password, and something you possess, like your smartphone or a hardware token. This powerful mechanism significantly reduces the chance of unauthorized access, even in cases where your password may be compromised. By embracing 2FA, you protect yourself against prevalent threats such as phishing, brute force attacks, and credential theft. It’s not just about safeguarding your sensitive information; it also builds trust among users by showcasing a strong commitment to security. For organizations, adopting 2FA is vital for reducing cyber risks and adhering to security standards.
What is the difference between Two-Factor Authentication and Multi-Factor Authentication?
Two-Factor Authentication uses two factors for verification, while Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) may use three or more factors. For example, MFA might require a password, a smartphone-generated code, and a fingerprint scan.
How does Two-Factor/Multi-Factor Authentication work?
When you log in to an account with 2FA enabled, you enter your username and password as usual. Then, you are prompted to provide a second factor, such as a code from an authenticator app, a text message sent to your phone, or a biometric factor like a fingerprint. Only after verifying both factors are you granted access.
Why should I use Two-Factor Authentication?
Passwords alone are often insufficient to protect against hackers, who can exploit weak or reused passwords. 2FA significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access by requiring a second form of verification, making it much harder for attackers to compromise your account.

What are the types of Two-Factor Authentication methods?
Password Express supports one-time passwords deliverted by Email, Phone Call or SMS. Authenticator apps Google and Microsoft Authenticators and other TOTP supporting apps. Push authentication via the LogonBox Authenticator and Duo.‍
Why don't you support Security Questions Authentication?
Password Express has been designed with modern security authenticators. Security Questions are simply alternative passwords and come with a host of problems for user management and user enrolment. Systems that do not require user enrolment are more effective when it comes to reducing helpdesk calls and maximizing your Return on Investment.
